From some friends’ recommendation, I joined with their Sunday online webinar which is easy for me to attend without a pressure and refresh my mind about what was I doing in Taiwan is just a ‘short-term’ stop before going ahead to Canada.
I learned that many of us, Filipinos work overseas we spent almost all our time in our golden age, but we didn’t help ourselves and our families to a more secure financing situation. Actually, we just spoiled the family members in the home country if they
all depend on the money you remitted to support their living or buying luxury thing which they cannot afford to. I realized that I should stop feeding them, but focus on the career pathway which I am eagerly to do and consistently to do as my life-time career.
Thanks God, thanks to my husband's support and the UBI's help, I started my study in Centennial College located in Toronto, a very nice city that I can develop a lot of things which I could not even think of it in the Philippines or in Taiwan. But. here I am. Thank you my dear UBI's ladies for your kindness and great helps.
I want to thank to UBI’s senior staffs who encouraged me while I got my refusal notice of my 1
st
time student visa application from IRCC in May, 2021. I lost my faith and enthusiasm of pursuing another application since I thought that I am still young and had enough experiences in the field that I am looking forward to study to enhance my knowledge and adapt to a new environment on the learning. It should be an easy thing for me to get it through, but I failed.
I learned it from UBI office that I should submit a GCMS information request in order to analyze what was the problem or issue that made my failure of the first time application. And, they gave me a lot of warm encouragement by mentioning other cases which had tried twice or even three times of rejection. But 95% of them didn’t give up, in deed most of them were finally got the visa and moving forward to their next stage of life which is exactly what I am experiencing now in Prince George, BC.
I was so shocked and happy to share the good news to my colleagues in the nursing institutes where I worked, because I knew that some of them have the same dream like I have to go to Canada, but don’t have confidence to step in the career pathway which I choose. A good advice from UBI is ‘never give up’, because we don’t know the obstacle in front of us, is to ‘destroy’ me or a power of push to ‘enhance’ me.
I was so happy and my eyes were tearing when I got the call from UBI office that Jake Penales Pastrana - my husband, and I may go together to Canada for starting my 3 years of study in Fanshawe College which is located in London, Ontario. When I wrote down these paragraphs, I am having my first year of study of General Arts & Science program. I am so grateful to those staffs in UBI Taipei office who worked with me and my husband for to point out a pathway which is practical and achievable to us. Due to my prior educational background in the Philippines, only high school graduated could not accept me to enroll the college’s program in Canada. I’m glad and satisfied that now I am sitting in the class of Fanshawe College for study and walking in the campus every weekday.
I want to send my great appreciation to UBI and all those staffs who were helping me to establish a plan which is viable to me because the plan was designed based on my conditions. I got great benefits from following it to reach the target of saving enough money for my fund to study and to pay some other expensed which were foreseeable before it happened. I know my time in Taiwan won't be long due to the maturity of contract's limit, by the escorting of thier timeline and financial planning, I got my visa-the ticket to study in Canada as expected. My conclusion of my testimonial is that if you want to achieve something in big, you need a viable and practical plan be followed. A wish is never a plan which may not come true.
As a new comer to SAIT, to Alberta and Canada, I enjoy the freedom to do anything I can since I am no longer young, but to raise my son as part of my future career once I have settled and have some savings. People here are very kind and friendly to help each other that help me to melt into the society faster without too much cultural shock. I bet you will like the atmosphere if you were here. The winter is coming that makes me a little bit nervous but I’m quite sure that I can make it through and can bring my son here for living together. I sincerely hope that he can get his higher education in Canada because the quality is very good and much more advance than what he can get now.
I encourage anyone of you, who is reading my testimonials now, if you have an idea to come to Canada for whatsoever reason, keep trying and don’t give up. I know some people failed to come at the end, but many Filipino fellows are here. There were cases been rejected once, twice…but they made it at the end because they insisted to have their dreams come true and never given up. Agents like UBI, they will help OFWs to do the adjustment according to the rejection cause from GCMS, then they will re-submit the case again and again until it succeeded or you gave up.
More hesitation, you lost more time to be here – Canada.
